Ingredients:
1 C. butter, softened
½ C. sugar
1 egg yolk
3 t. vanilla
3 C. flour
½ t. baking powder
1 egg white
1 T. sugar
Directions:
- Mix butter, sugar, and egg yolk together thoroughly.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Sift flour and baking powder together.
- Stir in butter mixture.
- Chill dough.
- Roll out chilled dough ¼-inch thick and cut with Christmas tree shaped cookie cutter.
- Combine egg white and sugar, beat well.
- Brush tips of cookies with this mixture.
- Decorate with green sugar.
- Bake 375° F for 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly brown.
Makes 6 dozen.
Note: This makes a crisp sugar cookie meant for rolling out and using with cookie cutters.
