
Ingredients:
1 egg, separated⅔ C. milk2½ C. flour1 t. salt1 C. + 1T. sugar1 C. shortening3 C. apples, sliced1 t. cinnamon1 C. powdered sugar2 T. milk
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400° F.
- Beat egg yolk until light and creamy.
- Add milk.
- Sift flour with salt and 1 tablespoon sugar.
- Cut in shortening.
- Add egg mixture.
- Divide dough into 2 parts.
- Roll half to fit 15"x10"x1" pan.
- Place dough in pan and put apples on top.
- Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll remaining dough to cover apples.
- Pinch edges.
- Beat egg white until it peaks.
- Brush over top of rectangle.
- Bake for 40 minutes, until golden brown.
- Blend powdered sugar and milk, drizzle over top of square while hot from oven.
