Cast Iron Skillet Care

 Cleaning and Drying:

If the pan is rusty or has stuck on food, soak your pan in mildly soapy, hot water, then use an abrasive scubby pad.  Steel wool should not be used for day-to-day care.

Dry the pan first with a paper towel or dish cloth, then set it on a burner set to medium heat until all moisture has evaporated.

Oiling:

Apply a thin coat of vegetable or canola oil to pan with a clean paper towel.
Do not apply too much oil or it will become sticky.

Baking Pan:

Place in 400 degree oven for at least 1 hour.
Turn off oven and allow pan to cool.
